The visa exemption agreement for ordinary passport holders signed between Vietnam and Myanmar will take effect on Oct.26, according to an announcement released by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The move is aimed at simplifying the procedures as well as facilitating the traveling of citizens of the two countries.
Under the agreement, citizens of the two nations who hold ordinary passports valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of arrival will enjoy exemption for entry, exit and transit visas up to 14 days of stay in each other's territories.
However, those who want to stay for more than 14 days will have to apply for a visa.
Therefore, after Oct. 26, Vietnamese ordinary passport holders are allowed to enter a total of nine ASEAN member nations without a visa.
